Grace Food Pantry is Still Open

With sadness, Community Hardware has closed its doors due to the continued sour state of our economy.  However, the Grace Food Pantry is still open and will continue to operate at the normal times on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Donating items to the pantry has become a little more difficult.  Until some details are worked out, please continue to use the Grace Center phone number: 812-824-5595 and email address: gracecenterinc@gmail.com to make arrangements for your donations.

As the economy lingers in uncertainty, the need for basic food items continues to grow.  Please consider a donation and for those that have continuously supported the food pantry - Thank You!

July Community Dinner is this Tuesday the 26th

Join us this Tuesday at the Community Building for a summer time cookout.  Hope to see you there!

No Community Dinner in June

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but there will not be a community dinner in June.  The community building was already scheduled that same evening (last Tuesday of June) so we decided to take a month off.  We'll be back next month on July 26th.  Hope to see you then.

Community Garden Project

Harrodsburg United Methodist Church will be hosting their 'Community Garden Project' again this year. Weather permitting, garden plots located on the grounds of the HUMC building will be tilled by April 1. The plots will be marked off and assigned, each person will be contacted when their plot is ready. Once you are assigned a plot, HUMC asks that you tend your garden regularly, use organic products (such as fertilizer), and consider donating a portion of your bounty to a food pantry like Grace Center. They also ask that you respect the other gardens, and if you borrow tools or equipment donated for use by HUMC, that they be returned to their proper place after use. Enrollment forms are available at HUMC, Grace Center Food Pantry and Community Hardware, Inc.

New Pantry Hours Starting Jan 6th

Beginning Jan 6th, 2011, Grace Center, Inc will be open Thursdays from 5pm-7pm in addition to the normal Tuesday 10am-12noon time.  Patrons will now have a choice to shop either Tuesday morning -or- Thursday evening.  This will also create more volunteer opportunities as well.

Community Dinner - Dec 14, 2010

Just a quick reminder that the next Community Dinner is on Tuesday Dec 14th from 5:30 - 7:00 pm at the Community Building in Harrodsburg.  It will be Holiday themed.

Next month, the Community Dinner will resume at the normal date - the last Tuesday of the month.

Volunteer Opportunities

• Mailing Group: Volunteers needed the last week of every month for 3 hours to help fold, tape, stamp, and label Grace Center newsletter.
• Dinner Crew: Volunteers needed last Tuesday of every month to help with preparation, serving, and clean up at monthly community dinners (free homemade meal included!).
• Share a skill: Do you have a special skill you would like to share? Do you have tips that others could benefit from? Share them at the Harrodsburg Community Center with friends and neighbors!
